Recession recovery strategies are the focus of 2010. New businesses, new ideas, new ventures are top agenda items.
Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley is proposing a small business credit recovery program to boost lending, and working with U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner about investing federal money in small business lending.
Many retailers are putting their money towards the real estate market while leases are cheaper. Economists predict Americans’ spending will increase by 2% this year, the first gain since 2007. So while some small businesses may shut down, this may be the perfect opportunity for another to open.
A new study revealed the best places in the U.S. to launch small businesses and experts are focused on how best to successfully operate a small business.
One woman has even stood by her small business through the recession, and with a $7,000 loan from Accion USA, her self-owned multimedia company expanded. She has gained more clients and even hired a part-time office coordinator. Definitely a role model for women-owned small businesses!
Positive energy must prevail despite the hard economic times our nation has faced this past year. Let’s continue to make 2010 the best ever!

Small Business Economic Indicators |
|
When you're a small-business owner, issues like whether you can afford to give your assistant manager a raise or whether your dinner bread will be delivered on time loom larger than the trade deficit and crop results. Yet, the nation's employment outlook factors into your hiring decisions and the truck that delivers your bread runs on gas — so keeping an eye on the bigger picture can help you avoid cost surprises.
