It has been a progressive week for New York’s Small Businesses as Governor David Paterson released the New York State Directory of Small Business Programs. The guide lists programs and agencies aimed at helping New Yorkers start and grow their business. Categories include: funding sources, technical assistance, and work force recruitment. As we continue to go green, Michael Bloomberg announced his plans to help launch a joint labor-real estate industry program that will train 1,000 building superintendents in the latest energy efficiency practices.
There is a new, New York woman in Washington. President Barack Obama has selected Marisa Lago to oversee international markets and development for the U.S. Department of Treasury. The former CEO of New York state’s economic agency must first be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
Reminder: The Third Annual Champion Award Gala and Dinner will take place on October 21st at the BNY Mellon, 101 Barclay Street, NYC.

Green Innovation Grants

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) authorized that not less than 20% of economic stimulus funding provided for the State Revolving Funds (SRFs) be used for green infrastructure. Of the $432 million in stimulus funds appropriated for the New York Clean Water SRF, $86.5 million will be available for green infrastructure projects. Of the $86.8 million in stimulus funds appropriated for the New York Drinking Water SRF, $17.36 million will be available for green infrastructure projects.
