Volume I, Issue 35 - Week of September 1st, 2009
In the loss of every great leader, there is the birth of a legacy. True leadership is rare, and the death of Senator Ted Kennedy brings great sadness for all advocates of small business inclusion. The WBC extends their condolences to his family and stands firm upon the values he left behind.
Please take a moment to read Walter McCaffrey's heartfelt editorial below.
This past week has been exciting for minority and small disadvantaged businesses. President Obama proclaimed "Minority Enterprise Development Week" on August 23-29, dedicated to celebrating minority entrepreneurs and their employees. President Obama's administration signed a grant in the amount of $29.3 billion to small disadvantaged businesses. President Obama suggests that supporting MWSDBEs is part of our economy's recovery and long-term prosperity, and will also create more contracting opportunities for them. MWSBDEs can only benefit from Obama's plans and laud the administration for continuing to help minority- and women-owned firms expand and reach their goals.
