Astrid Glynn, First Female DOT Commissioner, Resigns as of May 8

 |
New York transportation Commissioner Astrid Glynn has resigned and will leave the job May 8.
Gov. David Paterson's office gave no reason for the resignation. A call to DOT headquarters in Albany wasn't immediately returned.
The 59-year-old Ms. Glynn was a veteran Massachusetts bureaucrat when she was nominated in February 2007 by then-Gov. Eliot Spitzer to become the first woman to head the DOT.
Mr. Paterson praised Ms. Glynn on Monday for helping create a comprehensive state rail plan announced last month and for securing federal stimulus money for transportation projects.
First Deputy Commissioner Stanley Gee will serve as acting commissioner until Mr. Paterson names a replacement.
